How's My Acting

So there is this myth going around that if you don't cry on cue, that makes you less of an actor.

I just want to clear up that you dont always have to cry in a dramaticc scene to be considered a good actor. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of movies with dramatic scenes where the actors don't cry but the most important thing is to get the viewer or audience to feel for you. Make them feel your pain. And have them believe what they're seeing is real. Just crying doesn't mean a thing if you have no feeling behind it. As you can see in some of my videos i do monologues where i ry and some where i don't cry. Does that make me less of an actress? because i would get comments saying " i wish i couldve seen you "cry" and i find it funny sometimes :] Acting is not all about crying. Because some scenes don't require you to cry. Tell me what you think?

LOL ! I know where you got this, from our favorite show "Scream Queens" lol, what you said is true. Didn't you see how Gaby couldn't even get her eyes watery, but she's still an awesome actress. She couldn't cry because of all the things she had been true. But with good training you'll be able to get to those emotions. Even if you don't cry, you'll still transmit those emotions to your audience. People just need to find more information about what acting is about && stop making up fake myths.
Actually i didnt get a chance to watch the 3rd episode. I got it from here on HMA and other non actors in general. Especially non actors would make this myth up. I know how to cry on cue. Thats something that comes very natural to me. Its the fact if a person makes one dramatic monologue without them crying in it, people would be like if i wouldve seen you cry, the peice wouldve been soooo much better. When i have actual acting coaches telling me i did amazing and i didnt have to push any more emotion than what i've already shown. lol i dont get upset about a critique about not crying, I just want to show that in some dramatic peices ,your not required to cry. Even my actual acting coach tells me, "dont cry if you dont want to cry, or if your charater was not ment to cry" "otherwise it will look like your forcing yourself to cry." and when i cry, i actually feel the need to and i bring out a truthful performancce.
And thankyou reynaldo. Shedding tears doesnt determine if your a strong actress. Because even the worst actors can cry on cue because they are forcing it to make people believe they are actually good
Hahaha yeah thats very true... as you can see on some of my videos, im crying, and people ask me if those are real tears, and ofcourse they're real tears, whenever i get into character i feel what that person feels, i see what that person sees, and i hear what that person hears. And thats very true, non actors are one of the mains of this myth. Sometime you might do a monologues thats sad, but you dont have to cry, with a change of voice will make it sad. && Nicolette, you should watch the 3rd episode, why didnt you watch it?
Dead on Reynaldo. Mythbuster!
hahahaha :D Thanks Lee !
I think this is a really good question personally I believe in the basic description of acting... which is being in someone elses shoes and feeling what they feel and thinking how they think and when I finally start making the big bucks in this career I would be one of those actors that actually go to the grocerie store in a cat woman suit and crawl on all fours, that's what acting is is BECOMING SOMEONE ELSE and while you're in that character if you feel the need to cry you just cry because it will come natrual to you because that's what you the character is feeling. you should NEVER make yourself cry because it wouldnt be real and people can usually tell if your trying too hard. when it's time the tears will come down your face but if it is'nt atleast the auidience is left with that "man I feel her pain" eaither way its a win win. Which ever part you play YOU have to be molded into them otherwise it's lying (I always remember that summed up quote from Johnny Depp I love him!)
